IMPHAL, Apr 12: Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) claimed the team event title of the 21st Manipur Civil Services Tennis Championship with a 2-1 victory over Secretariat at Officers’ Club tennis court today.
While T Panmei defeated W Open 6-0 6-1 in the first singles to hand Secretariat the lead, N Dilip outlasted I Indrajit 6-0 6-2 to restore parity before the PHED pair of H Ibotombi and N Dilip edged past Panmei and In-drajit at 6-4 6-4 to fetch the crown.
In an open singles semifi-nal match also played today, Education Department’s Y Ibotombi crushed T Panmei (Secretariat) 6-0 6-0 while in a doubles last four clash, N Dilip and N Kangjamba overwhelmed T Panmei and K Ramkumar 6-3 6-2.
