IMPHAL, April 19: A Manipuri student studying Architecture Engineering at Acharya NRV School of Architecture, Bangalore was brutally beaten to death last night in his hostel, according to reports reaching here in Imphal.
The student has been identified as one Loitam Richard, aged 21, son of L Rajesh of Uripok Yambem Leikai, Imphal.
According to sources, as Richard was watching IPL cricket along with friends and some seniors he changed channels on the TV to which the seniors got angry and severely beat him up.
He was removed to a hospital nearby, but he succumbed to his injuries at around 1 am after midnight.
The Bangalore Manipuri Students Union has condemned the incident and has already lodged a FIR with the police for the arrest of the culprits.
Meanwhile, family members of Richard have rushed to Bangalore today after hearing of the incident. (IFP)
