Bangalore: Blotting Bangalore’s image as a safe city for those who come from other states for work or education, a group of six people assaulted a youth hailing from Manipur.
The injured is identified as Pavach, 22, a resident of Sarjapur Road. Pavach was accompanied by Nani, 20, who is said to be his sister.
After attending a party and getting drunk at a pub in UB City, Pavach and Nani hired an autorickshaw to Sarjapur Road, where they stay. When they reached Adugodi Junction, Pavach asked the auto driver, Kaleem, to stop the auto.
“When I stopped, Pavach got out of the vehicle and started walking, saying he did not want to travel with Nani,” Kaleem told DNA.
“After walking some distance, Pavach turned back to find three youth standing on the road and looking at Nani. He came back and got into an altercation with them asking what they were looking at. The youth overpowered and bashed him up, saying: ‘You guys come from other states to live here but get drunk and question local people.’ A motorist, who was passing by, stopped and joined the youth in thrashing Pavach after learning what happened. Later, three more persons joined and hit Pavach,” Kaleem said.
‘Teach outsidersa lesson’
“The motorist said outsiders should be taught a lesson and called the police, who reached the spot and took Pavach and Nani, along with one of the boys who hit him, to Adugodi police station,” he said.
Pavach was taken to a government hospital in Jayanagar. Later, the duo was dropped at home, police said.
